Timeline

JUNIOR YEAR

  1. Prepare for taking the GRE (Graduate Record Exam) using study guides and online practice tests.
  2. Sign up for taking the GRE (test centers and dates)
  3. Explore graduate programs 
  4. Identify 3-4 faculty members who can potentially write recommendations. 

SENIOR YEAR

   Summer

  1. Find application requirements for graduate schools you have identified.
  2. Work on your personal statement for the application

   September

    Contact faculty members for recommendations

   October-January

  1. Complete grad school applications by each program’s published application deadline
  2. Take the GRE subject test (if required) or other required exams, like the GMAT

Participate in research opportunities while you're an undergraduate. For example, check into doing an undergraduate research project. Ask your academic advisor about possibilities in your major.
