  • Recommended dictionaries for looking up terms and phrases, especially those in Latin.

Cases 

  • Find full text federal and state cases using Google Scholar, Oyez, or NexisUni

Shepard's Signals

  • Use the signals to see how a case has stood against subsequent interpretations. 

Case Precedence 

  • Law Review journals are an excellent place to start your research because they contain important cases about the topic.Refer to the footnotes to link to cases discussed within the article.

  • Avoid overturned cases which are indicated by a "stop sign symbol." 

Laws

  • Includes federal statutes (laws) and regulations

  • Use the U.S. Code (provided by Cornell University Law School) to find federal law and state statutes

Citing

  • Examples of references and in text citations
