Snowball Research

Find sources for your paper or project

What is "snowball" research?

[ snowball ]

  • Snowball research is an effective way of finding sources for your project, paper, or presentation. This research method utilizes the citation list from relevant sources you may already have.
  • Start with one source written by a reputable author that is very relevant to your research thesis or argument and scan the references listed. Search and find a citation(s) that is related to your topic.
  • Check the related article to ascertain whether it assists you in your research efforts. After evaluating the next source(s) for credibility, locate another relevant reference listed. Roll and repeat!
