Basic format

  • Begin the page on a separate page at the end of your research paper or project.
  • Margins:
  • Header: 
  • Font and text size:
  • Label and center the page name:
  • Citations: left margin. Indent the second and subsequent lines of citations by 0.5 inches to create a hanging indent. (ctrl/t)
  • Single space citations
  • Order: alphabetical by last name of personal or group author. 
    • No author: title, then date.
    • No date: (n.d.)
    •  
    • Don't include author's title, e.g., Dr., Ph.D.
    • Particles in author names, e.g., de, le, von
      • CSE - treat particles as part of the surname and retain author's original capitalization

Include a variety of types of sources, including:

  • corporate author no author
  • no date
  • citing a congressional document and/ agency page
  • citation that begins with a number
  • media citation, e.g., youtube
  • Lori: after Lori Zech retires, do we need a personnal communications page for APA Style? Ask other Fundamentals professors?
  • primary, secondary, and tertiary document (can be lecture notes)
  • Other: items unique to your style, e.g., lab manual examples for CSE Style
